It’s been a week or two since you started work and my search rankings have gone down, why?

It’s not uncommon for a website to start bouncing around in the search results when Google is starting to reevaluate it’s position for search terms. It would be nice if it was always on the move up, but sometimes we’ve seen sites drop out of the top 100 for a few days before pushing to higher rankings. This is commonly called the “Google Dance” as changes ripple through their massive index. Also, sometimes Google changes their algorithm for ranking sites. At times it’s a test on their part, possibly even at only one datacenter. Then at other times it may be a permanent change in the way they evaluate results.
